Abstract

Ten trials of external quality assessment for clinical chemistry in general chemistry and blood gas were performed in 1996. A total 10 pairs of QC materials for general chemistry and blood gas were distributed to 391 laboratories with a response rate of 75.9% in general chemistry and to 191 laboratory with a response rate of 84.5% in blood gas. All the control materials in specifically made plastic box were sent in one time. The control items were sodium, potassium, chloride, BUN, glucose, calcium, phosphorus, uric acid, creatinine, bilirubin, total protein, albumin, total cholesterol, triglycerides, AST, ALT, ALP, LDH, GGT in general chemistry and pH, pCO2 and pO2 in blood gas. The methods of analysis are not changed from the previous year and the coefficient of variation and VIS scores are lowered in all test items. The analytical precision and accuracies are relatively highly improved in all test items.
