A Clinical Observation on Injuries of Genito-Urinary Tract

Abstract

A clinical observation was made on the injuries of Genito-Urinary Tract of the in-patient in the Department of Urology, Chonnam University Medical School during the period from August. 1969 to July. 1975. The results are as followings. 1) Of 771 cases hospitalized, 74 cases were injury of genitourinary tract, giving a ratio of 9.6%. 2) Traffic accident was the most frequent cause of the injury(33.8%) and the next was fall from a height, kick and blow etc. 3) The most favorable age was in from 21 to 40 years for 51.6%. The sex ratio, male to female, was about 4:1. 4) The urethra was involved most frequently in 43.2%, the kidney in 23.0%. the bladder in 16.2%, the ureter in 10.8% and the external genitaria in 6.8%. 5) Operation was performed in 6 cases of 17 renal injuries. 6) Five of 12 bladder injuries and 10 of 32 urethral injuries were accompanied with pelvic bone fracture.
