A Clinical Observation on Injuries of Genito-Urinary Tract

Abstract

A clinical observation was made on the injuries of Genito-Urinary tract of the in-patient in the Department of Urology, Seoul National Medical Center during the period from January. 1970, to December, 1973. This result are as follows. 1) Of 545 cases hospitalized, 67 cases were injury of genitourinary tract, giving a ratio of 12.3%. Automobile accident was the most frequent cause of the injury (43.3%) and the next was kick and blow, straddle injury, etc. 2) most favorable age was in from 20 to 40 years for 60%. The sex ratio, male to female, was 5:1. 3) The urethra was involved most frequently (41.8%), the kidney in 23.8%, the bladder in 16.4% the external genitalia in 12%, and the ureter in 6%. 4) Operation was performed in 4 cases of 16 renal injuries. 5) Of 28 cases of urethral injuries, 12 cases were associated with pelvic bone fracture.
