A radiological study on lumbar spondylolisthesis with intact neural arch

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to evaluate and anlyze the radiological findings of 13 cases of lumbarspondylolisthesis with intact neural arch at Han-Gang Sung-Shim Hospital during period from Jan. 1975 to June1980. 1. The age distribution of the patients varied from 31 to 83 years old. The average of the age was 53 yearsold. 12 patients were female and only one patient was male. 2. All cases revealed anterior slipping of the L4 bodyon the L5 body, of which degree was classifed by Meyerding's method, first degree in 12 patients and second degreein one patient. 3. The angle between the pedicle and inferior articular facet of affected vertebral was measuredby Jung-hann's method. The average of angle was 123 degree. 4. Of 13 cases, 2 cases who had neural compressioncaused by dislocation of the vertebral bodies and intrusion of lamina and arthritic facets into stenotic spinalcanal treated by laminar decompression including foraminotomy. Good results were obtained. 5. The secondarydegenerative change of the vertebral was considered to be the cause of the spondylolithesis with intact neuralarch.
