Abstract

Conventional direct surgical excision was the most reliable method in the straightforward treatment of the lipoma but it inevitably leaves visible scar. We have used endoscopic excision method in ten cases of lipomas on forehead, cheek, forearm and back. To achieve complete removal in cases of large lipoma, suction lipectomy was used in addition to endoscopic technique. The endoscopic excision method made it possible to operate under direct vision and it has advantages of reduced local tissue damage, reduced postoperative pain, earlier mobilization and excellent cosmetic results. All the patients were satisfied with the results and recurrence of the lipoma was not encountered during follow-up. The endoscopic excision or endoscopic excision with liposuction is an effective operative method for complete excision of lipomas in various locations and sizes, leaving invisible or markedly reduced scars.
