Abstract

A clinical study was done on 49 pathologic myopia patients examined by indirect ophthalmoscopy, color photography and fluorescein angiography between April 1981 and January 1986. The results were as follows: 1. Choroidal neovascular membrane(CNM) developedmore frequently in females than in males. 2. The development of CNM was not related to the degree of refractive error. 3. Retinal hemorrhage developed more frequently in the group of the eyes with CNM. 4. Among 21 eyes with CNM, foveal involvement occurred in 12(57%). 5. Among 12 eyes with foveal involvement, the number of eyes whose visual acuities were below 0.1 was 11(92%). 6. Among 9 eyes without foveal involvement, the number of eyes whose visual acuities were below 0.1 was only 2(22%). 7. Among 21 eyes with CNM, 4 eyes' visual acuities decreased, 6 eyes' visual acuities increased and 11 eyes' visual acuities did not change significantly. 8. The most frequent type of conus was temporal conus, the next was annular conus and the third was annular-temporal Conus.
