Abstract

Pulmonary arteriovenous malformation (PAVM) is a rare cause of brain abscess. Most PAVMs are found in patients with hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT), and idiopathic PAVMs related to brain abscesses have rarely been reported. This case report describes a brain abscess attributable to idiopathic PAVM in a patient initially diagnosed with suspected HHT, who nonetheless showed negative results in genetic testing.
