Roentgenogram of the Issue : Huge abscess Cavity in right lower lung

Abstract

Lung abscess is a pus-containing necrotic lesion of the lung parenchyme. And most of the lung abscesses caused by necrotizing infections, cavitary infarction and rarely cavitary malignancy. Abscess can develop within primary or secondary malignant lesion of the lung. Squamous bronchogenic carcinoma is a most frequent carcinoma forming cavitation. Abscess can be diagnosed without difficulty by roentgenography. However, in some case the underlying disease could be confirmed by bronchofiberscopic procedures. We reviewed 60 year-old male patient who was suffered from productive coughing and treated under the diagnosis of lung abscess without improvement for 3 months. And huge epidermoid cavitary malignancy, located in unusual site, was confirmed by bronchofiberscopic exammations.
