Interventional Management of Post-stroke Dysphagia

Abstract

he main target of surgical interventions for post-stroke dysphagia is the pharyngeal phase of deglutition. They consist of especially laryngeal closure and relaxation of the upper esophageal sphincter. In this article, we reviewed the surgical interventions including tracheostomy, vocal fold medialization, separation from the upper airway from the digestive tract and correction of hypertonic cricopharyngeal muscles.
