Traumatic Separation of Upper Femoral Epiphysis: A Case Report

Abstract

Although separation of the epiphyses at the wrist, elbow, ankle, and knee, is a common injury in childhood, a traumatic separation of the upper femoral epiphysis in young children is a lesion of considerable rarity. In a five-year-old boy occurred the separation of the upper femoral epiphysis in the left hip and the unsuccessful manual reduction was followed by successful pen reduction with K-wire internal fixation The postoperative course was uneventful.
