Solid and papillary epithelial neoplasm of the pancreas

Abstract

During last 2 years, we have experienced 3 cases of solid and papillary epithelial neoplasm of the pancreas.All occured in young women(21, 27, and 29 years) who present with abdominal pain and mass. Grossly the tumors allappeared well circumscribed with focal or extensive cystic change and hemorrhage. Microscopically, the tumors werecharacterized by distinctive solid and papillary pattern. CT and sonography of the tumor show a well-demarcatedmass that can be solid, mixed cystic and solid or mainly cystic. ERCP was done in one case which showed taperedobstruction of main duct with round swing of side branches.
