A case of renal oncocytoma

Abstract

We report a case of renal oncocytoma in 47-year-old woman. Renal oncocytomas, also known as oxyphilic adenomasand proximal tubular adenomas, are benign tumors of the renal parenchyma which arise from the proximal tubularepithelial cells. They appear radiographically as solid masses which are hypervascular on angiography. The classicangiographic findings for the oncocytoma include a spoke-wheel configuration, a homogeneous nephrogram, and asharp smooth rim, but are not pathognomic. Histopathological studies confirm the renal oncocytoma, they showuniform packets of eosinophilic cytoplasm and the cytoplasm is filled with innumerable mitochondria.
