Roentgenological findings of the total hip replacement

Abstract

A total of 27 low-friction arthroplasty were performed in 18 males and 9 females from May 1975 to July 1976 atthe Kyung Hee University Hospital. Since this operation is slowly gaining popularity in Korea, the purpose of thispaper is to get acquainted with the postoperative radiological findings to the radiologists. Of 27 cases, 8 caseswere tuberculous arthritis. The remains were 6 cases of osteoarthritis, 6 cases of femur neck fracture, 5 cases ofprevious operation failure and 2 cases of aseptic necrosis respectively. The Charnley, Trapezoidal-28 and Mullerprosthesis were used for the surgery. The post-operative complications were 3 cases of loosening of prosthesis, 2case of disrupted wiring, 2 cases of dislocation of prosthesis, 2 cases of fracture of femur and 1 case ofnon-union of greter trochanter, respectively.
