Abstract

The development of intracavernous pharmacotherapy has been one of the most important advances in the treatment of impotence over the past decade. This treatment option has enabled patients to regain erectile potency without the need for surgery or any external devices. Numberous vasoactive agents have been studied to initiate and maintain an erection through their neurophtsiologic action of inducing corporal smooth muscle relaxation. The major agents currently in use universally are papaverine, phentolamine and prostaglandin E1. Herein, the practical method and various results of pharmacologic erection program are presented.
