Gender Differences in Psychiatry: Psychopathology Across the Life Cycle

Abstract

Psychopathology can occur from infancy to death. A certain psychopathology is limited to a specific life stages, while most occur at any stage. Certain mental disorders reach a peak age at onset during specific life stage, and some symptom expressions become different in relation with age. Men and women differ in the disease susceptibilities, age at the greatest risk, manifestations, and prognoses.
