Abstract

The intranasal presentation of pituitary adenoma is rarely reported. We report a 44 year-old female who presented with nasal obstruction due to massive pituitary tumor. Neurologic and ophthalmolgic examinations disclosed no abnormalities. Computed tomographic scans and magnetic resonance image of paranasal sinuses showed a sellar and suprasellar mass extending into the sphenoid sinus and nasal cavity. All hormone levels were within normal range in endocrinologic examination. Since the tumor extended into the nasal cavity, a nasal biopsy was performed and pituitary adenoma was confirmed. Removal was done through trans-sphenoidal approach. This unusual presentation is discussed with a reference to the literature.
