Abstract

There are evidences to show a relationship between Graves' disease and thyroid cancer. In the past, few reports mentioned the coexistence of the two. However, recent studies suggested that thyroid cancer was more common in Graves' disease than euthyroid. It showed markedly invasive growth with lymph node metastasis even though the primary tumor was small in size. Factors that appear to have an etiologic roles in the development of thyroid cancer in Graves' disease were TSH, TSAb, radioiodine therapy, previous low dose external radiation. Here, we report three cases of thyroid cancer in Graves' disease. Thyroid scan revealed cold nodules in two and hot nodule in one of the cases. All of these patients were female, and histological examination revealed papillary carcinoma.
