Abstract

Anophthalmic socket contracture causes cosmetical and functional problems because it is defficult to insert the artificial eye after enucleation or evisceration. It is important to evaluate amount of conjunctiva, anchoring conjunctiva to periosteum of orbital rim, and moistening of conjunctiva to get the satisfactory result after anophthalmic socket reconstruction. Therefore, buccal mucosal graft and split thickness sken graft were made for each moist and dry conjunctiva considering amount of conjunctiva and moistening of conjunctiva. 23 patients were included in this study who had diagnosed moderate or severe socket contracture and who had difficult time in insering artificial eye. All 23 patient could be possible to insert artificial eyes 6 months after operation and could get satisfactory result cosmetically and functionally.
