Clinical Observation on Renal Tumors

Abstract

A clinical observation was made on the patients with renal tumors who had been admitted and treated in the Department of Urology, Seoul National University Hospital during the period from Jan. 1965 to Sept. 1973. The following results were obtained. 1. During these period, a total of 2, 886 patients were admitted and 44 cases were confirmed as renal timor, giving a rate of 1.53%. 2. Of 44 cases, 28 cases were male and 16 cases were female patient. 3. Of 44 cases, renal cell carcinoma was 27(61%), transitional cell carcinoma of renal pelvis 9(20%), Wilms' tumor 7(16%) and hamartoma was 1 case(2.2%). 4. Chief complaints were as follows: hematuria in 48%, loin pain in 34%, abdominal mass in 24% and weight loss with fatigue observed in 18% of patients. 5. Raised ESR in 70%, anemia in 49%, hypertension in 30% and abnormal liver function test was found in 14% of patients as a systemic effects of renal tumors.
