Abstract

Vesicouterine fistula is a rare condition, representing only 1 to 4% of all urogenital fistulas. Patients present with urinary incontinence with or without cyclic hematuria. If the diagnosis is delayed and cyclical uterine bleeding recommences, the patient may complain of amenorrhea and discharge of menstrual blood through urethra. With early recognition and diagnosis, conservative management is recommended, using continuous bladder drainage by means of an indwelling catheter and prophylactic antibiotics for prevention of secondary infection. If conservative management fails, surgical correction is indicated. We present a case of vesicouterine fistula in 25-year-old woman who had been suffering from urinary incontinence with gross hematuria after lower segment Cesarean section.
