Abstract

Pulmonary actinomycosis is a chronic suppurative disease which leads to abscess formation and fibrosis it was caused by aspiration of contaminated material from to mouth or oropharynx. Even when the clinical suspicion is high, the disease is commonly confused with other chronic suppurative lung diseases and with lung cancer. An early, accurate diagnosis will prevent the considerable psychological and physical morbidity, including unwarranted surgery, associated with delayed diagnosis.
