Abstract

Although osteochondral lesions are prevalent in the knee or ankle joints, lesions at the subtalar joint are exceptionally rare. This paper reports the case of a 21-year-old man who complained of chronic pain in the medial side of the left ankle, which was diagnosed as an osteochondral lesion of the calcaneus involving the subtalar joint. This lesion should be included in the differential diagnosis of chronic medial side ankle pain after trauma, and the diagnosis should be made initially through a close physical examination and radiographic evaluation. Conservative treatment methods are prioritized, but various surgical treatment methods may be considered if the symptoms worsen.
