Abstract

A 49-year-old female who was healthy enough to climb the mountains visited the authors’ hospital with severe left knee pain and swelling that began suddenly without trauma. Even with bed rest and conservative treatment, the symptoms did not decrease, and there was limited knee extension motion due to the worsening pain. The knee joint pain worsened while walking. After a magnetic resonance imaging scan, she was treated by conservative treatment with the above diagnosis, but there was no improvement in symptoms. After arthroscopic debridement, her symptoms disappeared, and a biopsy confirmed the diagnosis. Therefore, the authors report this case with a review of the relevant literature.
