Generalized Exfoliative Dermatitis due to Thiacetazone: A Report of Four Cases

Abstract

Four cases of generalized Exfoliative Derinatitis due to Thiacetazone were reported. All of the cases took this drug for the treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis. Systemic manifestations such as headache, nausea, Vomiting, drug fever, and weight loss preceded the skin eruptions and then generalized exfoliations were developed about 3 weeks later. Two patients of all showed transient proteinuria but all patients had almost normal C.B.C findings and liver function tests. All patients were able to treat readily within a few weeks but the careful consideration should be given for the proper use of thiacetazone.
