Lung Function Study of Pulmonary Tuberculosis Patients -Chapter l. Studies on the Ordinary Spirometry of Pulmonary Tuberculosis Patients, Chapter 2 Studies on the Bronchospirometry of the Preoperative Pulmonary Tuberculosis Cases

Abstract

174 cases with pulmonary tuberculosis were examined Vital Capacity (VC), Forced Expiratory Volume in 1st and 3rd second (FEV 1 & 3), Maximal Breathing Capacity (MBC), Oxygen Consumption (0. cons.), Air Velocity Index (AVI), and Minute Ventilation (MV). 127 cases of 174 were male and remainder were female. 171 cases had cavitary lesion, and they were divided into three groups slight, moderate and marked group regarding the extent of destructions. VC was normal value in minimal, but it was slightly decreased in moderate advanced and was markedly decreased in far advanced pulmonary tbc. It was also decreased in volume as long as the duration of i1lnesses, was no changeability in age on the comparison with the predicted value, and was also no difference by the evidence of distortions. FEV and MBC has been dec reased in older age, longer duration of the illness, and the extent ðf destructive changes. But MBC was no differences of predicted value in age group. AVI was almost normal value and especially good results in younger age group. It was no differences with distortion in slight or moderate group but increased AV I in marked group with distortion.
