Clinical Study on the Metastatic Lung Tumor

Abstract

It is welI known that pulmonary metastasis in malignant disease is very frequent event. To determine the rather frequent malignancies, signs and symptoms associated with metastasis and radiological features, we studied 214 patient with pulmonary metastasis on radiological basis .at SNUH Since 1972. The result is as follows 1) The over-all metastatic rate was 7.4 percent. 2) Male was more frequently involved than female, and the peak age group were forties and fifties. (more than 60 percent). 3) The most frequent one is that from hepatoma, then tumors of the stomach, breast, bone and choriocarcinoma, thyroid, etc, in order. 4) In about one thirds, respiratory symptoms were the chief complaint and those were dyspnea, cough, sputum, chest pain, and hemoptysis or blood tinged sputum in order. 5) On radiologic basis, lymphangitic spread was 13.5 percent, hematogenous was 78 percent and mixed type was 8.5 percent, respectively. In hematogenous group, solitary nodule was 13.2 percent, and multiple nodules was 86.5 percent.
