A Study on the Case Rate of Chest Tuberculosis in Female Infertility

Abstract

To evaluate the influence of pulmonary tuberculosis in female infertility and to get attempt to gain a better insight into relationship of inferti1ity to tuberculosis. 318 women with primary infertility and 312 women with secondary infertility seen at Ilsin Women’ s Hospital for 3 years. 1974-1976. were studied with the following rusults: 1. The coverage rate of chest x-ray. Rubin test and endometrial biopsy were 96.2%. 80.6% and 69. 5% respectively. 2. The case rate of chest tuberculosis was 29.5%. with 34.8% in primary infertility and 23.9% in secondary infertility. The case rate of active pulmonary tuberculosis in primary and secondary infertility according to ages were 4. 9% & 3.2% for 20-24. 6.2% & 4.3% for 25-29. 6.5% & 5.6% for 30-34. and 16.7% & 6.3% for 35-39 respectively. 3. Out of active pulmonary tuberculosis were 85.7% with minimal. 8.6% in moderately advanced and 5.7% in far advanced tuberculosis. 4. The case rate with air not patency by Rubin test were 63.3% in primary infertility and 51. 7% in secondary infertility. The case rate of active pulmonary tuberculosis in the cases with air patency by Rubin test were 4. 2% with 4.6% in primary infertility and 3.9% in secondary infertility. and in cases with air not patency were 7. 2%. 9.1% and 5.1% respectively. 5. The case rate of endometrial tuberculosis in primary infertility was 4.3%. of those who had endometrial tuberculosis 61. 5% was chest tuberculosis.
