Study on Triangular Double Shadow with Preservation of Outline of the Heart Border on Chest P-A View -A review of 16 cases-

Abstract

We reviewed 16 patients with triangular roentgen shadow and preservation of outline of the heart border, who have been admitted to National Medical Center from Jan. ’ 82, to Nov. ’84. Male patients were 8 cases and female patients were also 8 cases. Youngest was 26 years old and the oldest was 72 years old. From these findings it was obvious that collapse or atelectasis was probably due to distal obstruction of the bronchi of a lower lobe, or lower lobe plus middle lobe plus lingular segment. Diagnosis were made by bronchoscopy or bronchography except 1 case. Causes of these findings were attributed to pulmonary tuberculosis(3 cases), bronchiectasis (7 cases), lung carcinoma(3 cases) and others(2 cases; lung abscess and chronic bronchitis).
