Spirometry on Supine position in Young Healthy Students

Abstract

The pulmonary functions on sitting and supine positions were measured in 31 young healthy students for the induction of the regression equation of predicted value on sitting position from the measured value on supine position. The results were as follows: 1) The spirometric values were progressively decreased from sitting position to just after supine position and to one hour after supine position. 2) The decrease of forced expiratory flow rate was greater than that of the forced vital capacity. 3) FEV1 (sitting) = 0.7234FEVl (supine)+ 34.8489 FVC (sitting)= 0.7471FVC (supine)+26.7993 FEV1 / FVC (sitting) = 0.6826FEV1 / FVC (supine)+ 33.6447 V maX50 % (sitting) = 0.8834V ma x% (supine)+ 30.6086
