Abstract

Giant cell tumor is considered benign tumor which has predilection for the epiphysis of the long bone in young adults. After ordinary treatment, recurrence occurs easily with malignant change. Our experience with 4 cases of giant cell tumor of bone showed involvement of the distal femur or proximal tibia. Roentgenologically they showed an egg-sized radiolucent bony defect, expanded and thin cortex, but in 1 case pathological fracture was noticed. Microscopic examination revealed Grade II in 3 cases, Grade I in 1 cane by Jaffe's classification. Radical carettage and bone graft with auto. and homo. bone chips were done as treatment of our 4 cases of giant cell tumor. The postoperative courses have been satisfactory because of no recurrence or malignant change for the period from 3 months to 2 years. Further follow up study will be tried.
