Vascular colitis: a report of two cases

Abstract

The authors report two cases of vascular colitis in Korean with a review of literature. Case I, 20 years oldmale had severe abdominal pain and bloody diarrhea. Case II was 57 years old male and complained severe abdominalpain. Barium enema colon study on each cases disclosed typical thumbprinting appearance of involved segment. Follow-up study after conservative treatment of 5 to 10 days showed satisfactory improvement. Predisposing factorin case I appeared to be anaphylactoid purpura, and in case II distal obstruction due to adenocarcinoma. TheMechanism of vascular colitis was briefly discussed.
