(A) Gross view of the back, 14 months ago and (B) at presentation (22-months-old) with multiple lentigine-like macules on the trunk and thighs. Histopathologic examination showed an infiltrate composed chiefly of mast cells, which are characterized by the presence of metachromatic granules in the cytoplasm. The granules were not visible by H & E staining (C), but were confirmed after staining with (D) toluidine blue, and (E) c-kit (CD-117). H & E = hematoxylin and eosin.
