Countercurrent aortography via radial artery

Abstract

Countercurrent aortography via radial artery was performed for detection of aortic arch anomalies in 4 infantswith congenital heart disease. Author's cases of aortic arch anomalies were 3 cases of PDA, 1 case of coarctationof aorta, and 1 case of occlusion of anastomosis site on subclavian artery B-T shunt. And aberrant orign of theright SCA, interupted aortic arch, hypoplastic aorta, anomalous origin of the right pulmonary artery form theascending aorta can be demonstarated by this method. Coutercurrent aortography affords an safe and simple methodfor detection of aortic arch anomalies without retrograde arterial catheterization, especially in small infants orpremature babies.
