Abstract

Spiradenoma is a benign adnexal neoplasm, which has been generally thought to show eccrine differentiation. However, several lines of evidence suggest that differentiation of spiradenoma may be apocrine rather than eccrine. The presence of spiradenoma in the same biopsy specimen with trichoepithelioma, a more likely expression of the relationship between follicular and apocrine units, is rarely reported. We present a 22-year-old woman who had multiple spiradenomas on the face, neck, right forearm and abdomen. Her mother and sister had multiple trichoepitheliomas on the face. Histopathological examination on the perinasal area showed spiradenoma lobules in the vicinity of trichoepithelioma.
