Abstract
- Eikenella corrodens is a facultative anaerobic Gram-negative bacillus which is a normal flora of oral cavity, intestinal and genital tracts. It is difficult to isolate E. corrodens because it grows slowly and needs fastidious growth conditions. In the past, E. corrodens was considered as a less important pathogen due to low virulence. However, currently its clinical importance as a causative agent has been increasing by frequent isolation from patients having predisposing factors like trauma, immunoinsufficiency or underlying disease. We report a case of E. corrodens isolated from PEG (percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy) site which caused wound infection in patient with cerebral infarction.
