Abstract

For 3 yearss from Jan. 1970 through Dec. 1972, there were 11,336 Korean single births who were delivered at Severance, Chonju Presbyterian and Wonju Christian Hospitalss. The perinatal mortality rates were calculated at fetal deaths of20 or more weeks gestation plus neonatal deaths under 28days after births. We made a comparative studies of perinatal mortality, neonatal mortality and fetal deaths retes among 3 Hospitals. The results of statistical and clinical analysis were summarized as follows: 1. Number of total births perinatal mortality rates of hosspitals were Severance Hospital:7,423 cases and 42.2%, Chonju Presbyterian Hospital:2,208 cases and 52.1%and Wonju Christian Hospital :1,705 cases and 68.0%. The were significant differences between Severance Hospital and Wonju Christian Hospital. 2. There were no significant differences of the neonatal mortality rates among 3 Hospitals. The fetal deaths rates of hospitals were Severance Hospital :21.0%,Chonju Presbyterian Hospital: 25.4% and Wonju Chrisstian Hospital: 43.4%. There were significant differences between Severance Hospital and Wonju Christian Hospital. 3. The perinatal and fetal deaths rates of Wonju Christian Hospital were higher in the multiparity group of 5 or more and in the deliveries by cesarean section than other Hospitals. Other factors of high perinatal and fetal deaths rates were the incresing of high-risk fetus who had had bradycardia or inaudible heart beat, of mothers who had not received prenatal care and of high-risk pregnancies who had had obstetric complications and anemia.
