Abstract

Here we report a case of familial acanthosis nigricans. The patient was a 16-year-old boy, who had hyperpigmented, velvety plaques on both axillae for 5 years. His mother and sister had the same lesions on both axillae. On histopathological examination, we could observe hyperkeratosis, papillomatosis and irregular acanthosis of the epidermis and upward projection of dermal papillae in finger-like fashions. The patient, his mother and sister had no endocrinopathies or congenital abnormalities.
