Abstract

The uroflowmetry was performed in 213 normal Korean males, and the volume voided, voiding time, average flow rate and maximal flow rate were obtained In normal males, the urinary flow rate is most dependent on the volume voided in all ages. The relationships between the flow rate and the volume voided were compared with the functions of parabolic, hyperbolic, logarithmic and linear, and the excellent correlation coefficients were obtained in all three functions, especially in small voided volume groups. So the urinary flow rate obtained from small voided volume can also provide an information as significantly as one from large voided volume As the minimum volume required in uroflowmetry increases (over 150 ml), the slope of the regression line decreases, and the linear and above three curves become equally valid by least square analysis. The mean values of the maximum flow rate in adults (21-40 yrs. old) and in children and adolescents were 27 ml./sec.(S. D. 6.3) and 17 ml./sec. (S. D. 4.5) respectively.
