Abstract

Takayasu arteritis is an arteritis of undetermined etiology which affects the aorta, the proximal portion of its major branches, and the pulmonary arteries. Involvement of the one or both renal arteries resulting in stenosis or occlusion lead to ischemia and renovascular hypertension.
