The Effect of the Allopurinol on Uric Acid Stone

Abstract

The effectiveness of Allopurinol in the treatment of uric acid stone was evaluated in the Department of Urology, Chung-Ang University Hospital during the period of March, l973 to April, 1974. Allopurinol was administered in 3 divided doses of 600 mg daily to 4 cases of uric acid stone and following results were obtained. 1. The serum uric acid was reduced to 5.1mg percent by an appropriate dose of Allopurinol (600mg per day) for 5 days. 2. Excellent results were obtained in the treatment of uric acid stone using Allopurinol. 3. There was no side effect during treatment.
