Abstract

Hypothermia results from an inability to maintain body temperature despite activation of homeothermic mechanisms. We describe a 25 year-old woman with systemic lupus erythematosus who presented as exacerbation of myocarditis and musculoskeletal symptoms and showed hypothermia with steroid therapy. After starting Solumedrol 60 mg per day, she became hypothermic (33.3degreeC, oral temperature) for 4 hours. She recovered without any sequelae.
