Abstract

Chronic cough is characterized by the interplay of multiple treatable traits and cough reflex hypersensitivity, with type 2 inflammation representing a major treatable trait. Inhaled or systemic corticosteroids have long been used empirically in its management. However, clear guideline on the appropriate indications, timing, and administration of systemic corticosteroids remains lacking. This review aims to address key clinical questions by evaluating available evidence on systemic corticosteroid use in chronic cough and proposing a rational approach to their clinical application.
