Abstract

With the increasing demand for aesthetic restorations by patients, there is an increasing interest in ceramic restorative materials that can be applied not only to the anterior region but also to the area of the posterior region. Conventional ceramic materials had excellent aesthetics, but the process of fabricating restorations was complex and showed many limitations in application due to their low strength. Recently, with the great advances in the manufacturing and processing technology of ceramic materials and the introduction of the CAD/CAM technology in fabricating restorations, the demand for dental ceramic materials is steadily increasing. In the CAD/CAM fabrication method, where the restorations are produced by milling the blocks, there are limitations in the geometry that can be produced due to the interference of the tool. In addition, not only does the milling tool wear out quickly, but most of the blocks are removed by milling. On the other hand, in the 3D printing production method, it has the advantages of low material consumption and the simultaneous production of multiple restorations in a short period of time, so that if the production of dense sintered bodies is possible, its application is expected to increase rapidly.
