Fibrous Dysplasia of Bone: Report of 2 Cases

Abstract

Two cases of the fibrous dysplasia were reported. One case occurred in a 10 year-old boy at the proximal shaft of left femur. The diagnosis was made by the roentgenological study of the lesion with preoperative diagnosis of the osteomyelitis. Another case involved in a 20 year-old farmer the proximal shaft of left tibia where the gradual swelling with minimal tenderness forced him to have X-ray study. In both there were no infiammatory changes on the local area, and disability derived from the presence of the lesion was negligible. The final diagnosis was reached by the histological study of the specimen obtained with operative currettage of the focus. The cavity in each case was filled with iliac bone chips. The hospitalization and postoperative course were uneventual.
