Giant cell tumor of the proximal humerus treated by massive resection and replacement with Neer prosthesis: A Case Report

Abstract

The proximal end of the humerus ia a site relatively rarely affected by giant celI tumor. Although many methods have been used in the treatment of giant cell tumor of the bone, high recurrence rate was reported. This paper presented a case of giant cell tumor of the proximal end of the humerus which was treated by massive resection and replacement with Neer prosthesis. We have obtained a relatively satisfactory result without local recurrence on follow up study for the last 14 month, although function of the shoulder joint was moderately restricted.
