Asymmetry of jugular veins on neck computed tomography

Abstract

Authors measured the long and the short diameters of both internal jugular veins on the neck computed tomogramof 70 normal subjects. Asymmetry of the diameter of both internal jugular veins was common. The diameter of theright internal jugular vein was greater than that of the left vein in 43% and vice versa in 14%. The diameter ofthe jugular veins increased with aging. There was no sex difference.
