Two Cases of Atypical Ulcerative Colitis - Rectal Sparing Ulcerative
Colitis Associated with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis -
Abstract
- It has been accepted that the rectum is almost always involved
in ulcerative colitis (UC). However, there has been a few reports
that rectal sparing may be seen in a small percentage of patients
with typical UC. We present two cases of rectal sparing UC associated
with primary sclerosing cholangitis diagnosed simultaneously in nonsmokers.
We hope the cases could be helpful to establish more definitely the existence
of rectal sparing UC as an independent identity stemmed from Crohn's disease.
