Abstract

Myxoid leiomyosarcoma of the uterus is a variant of leiomyosarcoma characterized by a large amount of myxomatous stroma and low mitotic counts with minimal cellular atypia but with subsequent malignant course. These tumors have a striking myxoid appearance and exhibit highly malignant behavior despite their low mitotic index. We report a first case of myxoid leiomyosarcoma of the uterus occurring in a young child with brief review of literatures.
