Intraocular Cysticercosis

Abstract
- We investigated seven cases of intraocular cysticercosis: 4 subretinal in the macular region, 1 subretinal just above the optic disc and 2 in the vitreous cavity. Preoperative diagnosis was confirmed in all cases by observing the characteristic movement of the cysticercus larva. Trans-scleral extraction of the cysticercus was performed and resulted in improvement of vision in two cases and preservation of the preoperative vision in the other cases. We reviewed the medical histories, preoperative evaluation of the status of the vitreous and the retina, and the procedures of the operation.
