Abstract

Testicular steroidogenesis occurs in Leydig cells under the close control of lutrinizing hormone (LH). Leydig cell steroidogenesis is, in part, influenced by prolactin and estrogen which exert these effects on Leydig cell in concert with LH. It is therefore imperative to review some of the recent development on hypothalamopituitary testicular axis, LH receptor of Leydig cell, membrane adenly cyclase subunits and metabolism of testosterone in addition to testicular steroidogenesis.
